We were approached by one of Rajkot’s oldest schools to propose a vision plan for their campus. The School is blessed with a large parcel of land in one Rajkot’s most known areas. Apart from allocating zones for the School’s future needs, there was an immediate requirement of upgrading their primary school facility. After multiple discussions with the School’s management, we reached to a conclusion of replace the existing G+1 facility with a new primary school facility and a state of the art indoor sports and activity centre.

The new School is planned in a way that every classroom will have a dedicated semi open area for informal activities. To achieve this, each classroom is placed in a staggered formation, creating offsets which serve as the said semi open areas.

The Sports Centre is a straightforward structure, with indoor swimming pool facility on the ground floor, a multipurpose indoor hall (for sports and cultural events) on the first floor, and a hard court multi sports training facility on the terrace floor. The entire facility is planned keeping in mind that sufficient  light and ventilation is provided at every floor, so that energy consumption is at a minimum level.

Both the facilities are placed in a way that they create a central court, which serves as the location for daily morning assembly sessions. The volume that connects these facilities, has different functions allocated at every floor, like library, science and math labs, computer lab, arts and crafts lab, etc.
